Information on the status of the National Liberal Party (PNL) can be found in Responses to Information Requests ROM14239 of 26 May 1993, ROM10302 of 13 February 1992, ROM9677 of 18 November 1991, and their attachments. These documents are available at Regional Documentation Centres. Further information on infighting and splits in the PNL is contained in the attached documents.
A representative of the Romanian Helsinki Committee (APADOR-CH) in Bucharest, stated that no cases of ill-treatment of members of the PNL or of any of its splinter groups have been brought to the attention of APADOR-CH (18 May 1995).
This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
