During a conference of the officers of the Board of Public Tribunals in November 1992, the Secretary of the Board talking about public tribunals, said that under the 1992 constitution "the law had not decreed their abolition; instead it had provided for its integration and adoption in the traditional system." (Ghanaian Times 20 Nov. 1992, 8).
Public tribunals will continue to operate for a period of six months after the constitution comes into force on January 7, 1993 (Ghanaian Times 22 Dec. 1992, 1). Accordingly, there have been several reports confirming that public tribunals are still very involved in the decision-making process in Ghana. According to an article published in the Ghanaian Times, Professor Boahen and freelance journalist Kwesi Pratt were both put before the public tribunal (23 Dec. 1992).
