For information on the violence in the Punjab, please consult the attached newspaper and periodical clippings. They provide an insight with regard to the violence committed against the Hindu community. It should also be noted that besides the Hindus, moderate Sikhs and those who have spoken out against the militants have also suffered from this violence, according to the attached article by the Globe and Mail correspondent, Bryan Johnson.

Each of the U.S. Department of State Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for the years 1985-1988 briefly comments to the effect that Hindus have been the victims of violence in the Punjab.
