No reports of the Foundation for Peace in Guatemala (FUNDEPAZGUA) could  be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

     Please note that The World of Learning 1998 listing for Guatemalan universities does not include a University of Guatemala (1997, 649-650). In a 7 July 1998 telephone interview with the Research Directorate, an employee at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC) stated that the only USAC student newspaper she was aware of was Revista.

     This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
