The OS-7 is variously described as a special operations squad (Television Nacional de Chile Imagen International 7 July 1996), counternarcotics directorate (El Mercurio 19 July 1996), anti-drug directorate (Latin American Regional Reports: Southern Cone Report 8 Aug. 1996), drug enforcement department (Television Nacional de Chile Imagen International 12 July 1996), drug control department (Xinhua 18 Dec. 1992), anti-narcotics division (NotiSur 13 Nov. 1991) and drug squad (Reuters 21 Nov. 1988) of the Carabineros.
