Please find enclosed a copy of the nationality section of the Constitution of El Salvador. According to the Constitution, El Salvador recognizes dual or multiple nationalities and children born of a Salvadoran father or mother, but born in a foreign country, are Salvadorans by birth (Flanz et Ostolaza 1984, 40).

A spokesperson at the Embassy of El Salvador in Ottawa has corroborated this information in a telephone interview on 7 June 1991. The spokesperson added that the chid will be a Salvadoran by birth provided that he/she is registered at a Salvadoran consulate (Embassy of El Salvador 7 June 1991).

No further information on this topic is currently available to the IRBDC.
