In a telephone interview with the IRBDC, a representative of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Washington D.C. confirmed that the information contained in previous response to Information Request GBR7649 pertaining to the status of a person born in Sierra Leone in 1949 and holding a British passport indicating British Protected Person applies equally to a person born in 1950 (16 December 1992). The same source added that the status of British Protected Person is indicated in a British passport and is granted to persons who were born in British protectorates before their independence and provide that person with a travel document (Ibid.). The above-mentioned response to Information Request is available to the Documentation Centre in Toronto.
Additional information is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa.
