According to Reuters, the Ukrainian law which made male homosexual acts illegal was repealed in December 1991 (12 Dec. 1991). The report states further that female homosexual acts were not covered in the Soviet criminal code (Ibid.). A report from The New York Times corroborates that the law on homosexuality in Ukraine was repealed (10 Feb. 1993). These articles are attached.
Additional information specific to this topic is not currently available to the DIRB. Information on homosexuality in Russia, however, is available in the REFINFO database.
