Specific information on the legal redress available to Sikh women victims of rape by Sikh militants could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa. However, for information on the legal redress available to Indian women victims of rape, including by members of police forces and of militant groups in Kashmir, please refer to Response to Information Request IND18555.E of 6 October 1994 and to the attachments.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
