Attempts to obtain information on this subject from the Homosexual Liberation Movement (Movimiento de Liberación Homosexual, MOVIHL) and the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) have been unsuccessful.
Please note, however, that none of the sources consulted by the Research Directorate reported a 1995 kidnapping incident involving two MOVIHL members. These included a January 1998 NACLA Report on the Americas article written by a former MOVIHL member providing a history of the organization.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
