The name Ben Onokit does not figure on the list of 43 individuals reported executed for their participation in the abortive coup d'état of 22 April 1990 (AFP 20 July 1990, 28; Le Devoir 21 July 1990, 35; New African Sept. 1990, 17; West Africa 6-12 Aug. 1990, 2245).
