Please find attached a copy of a previous Response to

Information Request containing information on the University of

San Carlos (USAC). In addition to this information, the Embassy

of Guatemala in Washington, D.C., confirmed that the USAC has

branches at least in the cities of Quezaltenango, Mazatenango and

Retalhuleu (telephone interview, 17 May 1991). These branches

(called "sucursales" in Spanish by the source) are not as large

as the main branch located in Guatemala City, although they

provide courses in different fields to local students.
