Information on elections taking place on 30 November 1991 in part of Lagos State could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB. Various sources indicate that election primaries of the political parties that were reportedly held in October 1991 and their subsequent November runoffs were cancelled in nine states, including Lagos, on 25 November 1991. The new primaries were held in early December 1991, a few days before the state assembly and gubernatorial elections.

As per the information provided in your request form, Chief Dapo Sarumi reportedly won the primaries that were held in four wards of Lagos State on 9 November 1991 (Africa Reserach Bulletin 1-30 Nov. 1991, 10341). Various reports indicate that Chief Dapo Sarumi was later disqualified to run for governor because of alleged irregularities.

Please refer to the documents attached to Response to Information Request NGA11854 of 7 October 1992 for more detailed information on the subject.
