Information on a group under the name Asociacion de Pequeños Comerciantes could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

A staff member of the Camara Nacional en Pequeño de la Ciudad de Mexico (an association of small businesses located in downtown Mexico) stated that there is no complete or central listing of business associations in Mexico (30 Jan. 1997). The source added that such associations are very numerous and are not required to register with any particular institution (ibid.). Finally, the source stated that the Camara Nacional en Pequeño does not keep a registry or directory of associations that it deals with (ibid.).

A staff member at the Union Social de Empresarios Mexicanos (an organization that serves Mexican businesses and business groups) had no listing for a group with the above-mentioned name (31 Jan. 1997). The source also added that many business associations in Mexico City are quite small, and that no one in Mexico has a complete listing of them (ibid.).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
