Information specific to the Eastern Region Branch of the 31st December Women's Movement is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa.
A recent article mentions, however, that members of the 31st December Women's Movement were involved in the creation, by the Provisional National Defence Committee (PNDC), of a new political party called the National Democratic Congress (West Africa 22-28 June 1992, 1049). Earlier in the year, a speaker of the Greater Accra Branch of the 31st December Women's Movement emphasized the need for greater involvement of women in the political life of the country (Ibid. 20-26 Apr. 1992, 687). An article published at the beginning of 1992 shows a picture of women holding a sign reading: "31st December Movement: Air-Force Branch Burma Camp" (Ibid. 23 Dec. 1991-5 Jan. 1992, 2137).
