Nigeria
1) According to Michael Crowder's book The Story of
Nigeria, "The Edo, [...], speak a language classified as Kwa,
which also includes the Twi-speaking people of modern Ghana"
(1979, 13). Crowder adds that "...the Edo language bears no
relation to Hausa or Kanuri" (1979, 24). W.T.W. Morgan, author of
the book Nigeria, reports that there is a "...Bini section of
the Edo-speaking peoples,..." (1983, 124). This author further
mentions that "..villages are often formed of a grouping of
different and identifiable communities including, for example,
Itsikeri, Yoruba and Igbo as well as the indigenous Edo or Bini"
(1983, 125).
