Please find below information on dual nationality additional to that contained in the Response to Information Request NIC9746 of 15 November 1991, which is available at your Regional Documentation Centre.
According to a spokesperson of the consular office of the embassy of Nicaragua in Ottawa, the government of Nicaragua does not recognize dual nationality with Peru (1 Dec. 1993). The government of Nicaragua does allow dual nationality with neighbouring Central American countries: Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador (Ibid.). The sources added that Nicaragua has a dual nationality agreement with Spain (Ibid.).
This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
