The information that follows was provided by the Embassy of Guatemala in Ottawa, during a 27 June 1997 telephone interview, and upon consultation of an industrial directory of Guatemala.
Industria de Oleaginosas de Escuintla Sociedad Anonima (S.A.) is located at Kilometre 56 of the Highway to Guatemala City, in the department of Escuintla.
A representative of Industria de Oleaginosas de Escuintla Sociedad Anonima provided the information that follows during a 27 June 1997 telephone interview.
Industria de Oleaginosas de Escuintla Sociedad Anonima (IODESA) is a vegetable oil refinery located at Km. 56 of the Highway to Guatemala City, in the department of Escuintla. Although it started as a cotton-seed oil refinery, cotton currently accounts for a minority of its oil source. Sources presently used by IODESA to refine vegetable oil include sunflower seed, soya and palm. IODESA is a private company whose workforce is not unionized.
