Please find attached the requested 11 September 1996 article "Passports–New Series from Sep. 2" from the Sri Lankan English-language weekly The Island International. This article indicates that there are distinct differences between the previous series of passports with the code letter "L," and the new series with the code letter "M" (ibid., 6). In order to obtain a new passport, revised application form "K Form" must be used (ibid.). This article also lists the basic documents needed to acquire a passport.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
