Information on the above-mentioned party is scarce. According to Political Parties of Asia and the Pacific, the Progressive Democratic Force (Progosh) is led by retired Lieutenant-Colonel Shariar, one of the "majors" involved in the military overthrow of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in August 1975 (1992, 42).
