Information on a group called Renaissance is currently unavailable to the DIRB. However, for information on a group called Rebirth, please consult the attachment to Response to Information Request MDA22131.E of 11 December 1995. A group called Vozrozheniye, which according to the above-mentioned attachment means Rebirth in Russian, is briefly mentioned in two of the sources consulted by the DIRB. One of these articles, mentions a group called Vozrozhdeniye in a list of several organizations in Moldova in 1990 (TASS 3 Mar. 1990). The second article mentions a Russian electoral bloc called Vozrozhdenie that intended to include the head of the Transdniester Republic, Igor Smirnov, on its candidates list for the Russian parliamentary elections in 1995 (OMRI 31 Aug. 1995).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of other sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
