No information is currently available in the published and publicly-available sources regularly consulted by the IRBDC. Please find attached an excerpt from the LAWASIA report entitled Serendipity Under Seige which describes the situation for displaced persons after the communal rioting of July 1983.

The IRBDC contacted a student of Tamil politics, Mr. S. Ravindran, who noted that in the aftermath of the riots of July 1983, Tamil students who had been studying in the predominantly Sihnalese areas of southern Sri Lanka formed an organization to lobby for a transfer to campuses in Jaffna and Batticaloa. Mr. Ravindran could not say what title, if any, this group had. The information provided by Mr. Ravindran cannot be corroborated in published sources at the present time.
