For information on incidences of sexual harassment of Sri Lankan women by the IPKF on the Jaffna peninsula, please see the attached memo from Dennis J. Cole, IRBDC Research Officer, to R. Lamont Pittson, Coordinator IRBDC Information Request Unit. This memo outlines information provided by Amnesty International on the abovementioned topic.
Very little information is available in the sources regularly consulted by the IRBDC, regarding the possible sexual harassment of women by members of the various armed groups during 1985 and 1986. However, please find attached one article from the Human Rights Monitor for Sri Lanka, dated 3 March 1986, which mentions the rape and shooting of two women by the Home Guards on 25 the files by the Tamil Human Rights International Federation.)
