Please find attached several documents that provide information on the composition and role of the Supreme Court of Ethiopia in the early 1980s. The names of the judges of the Court could not be found among the sources currently available to the IRBDC.

According to the attached documents, the Supreme Court was administered by the Ministry of Law and Justice until 1987 (Legum 1989, B301). Until 1987, the Supreme Court's jurisdiction was reportedly confined to hearing appeals from the High Court (Africa South of the Sahara 1990 1990, 469). The Europa World Year Book reports that the Supreme Court consisted of a president and two judges, although the presidency of the Court was reported vacant (Europa 1984 1984, 1559; Europa 1983 1983, 334).

Also attached, please find sections of Africa Contemporary Record (listed below) that provide information on the Workers' Party of Ethiopia (WPE) hierarchy and structure, which adds to the information provided in Response to Information Request ETH11448 of 1 Sept. 1992.
