The Movement for Rights and Freedoms is the third largest political force in Bulgaria and, as a member of the Union of Democratic Forces, is part of the government (BBC 25 Apr. 1992; RFE/RL 10 Jan. 1992, 14).

Information on terrorist links to the MRF could not be found in the sources currently available to the IRBDC in Ottawa. However, such links are denied by the leader of the MRF, Ahmed Dogan, who said in an interview that the policy declaration of the "then underground movement" [the predecessor of the MRF] "made no appeals for any terrorist actions" (BBC 25 Apr. 1992). At the same time, he did not deny that "leaders of some regional organisations of the movement have expressed such opinions" (Ibid.).

The IRBDC in Ottawa has no further information on this subject at the present time.
