Vulovic, a journalist for Serbian Radio, and Zivko Filipovic, a photojournalist with Srpsko Slovo, were killed amidst fighting between Bosnian government forces and the Bosnia Serb rebels in Ilidza, a suburb of Sarajevo controlled by Bosnian Serb rebels.
