Title I

Article 1

Paragraph (d), paragraph (e) and paragraph (f)

Paragraph (d)

The term "refugee" shall have the meaning assigned to it in Article 1 of the Convention on the Status of Refugees, signed at Geneva on 28 July, 1951;

Paragraph (e)

The term "stateless person" shall have the meaning assigned to it in Article 1 of the Convention on Stateless Persons, signed in New York on 28 September, 1954;

Paragraph (f)

The term "members of the family" shall mean the persons defined or recognized as such or designated as members of the household under the legislation responsible for issuing the benefits, and in the case covered by Article 22 (1) (a) and Article 39, under the legislation of the Member State in whose territory they reside; where, however, the said legislation regards as members of the family or members of the household only those persons living under the same roof as the worker, this condition shall be deemed to be satisfied if such persons are principally dependent on that worker;

Paragraph (1)

This regulation should apply to workers who are or have been subject to the legislation of one or more of the Member States and are nationals of a Member State or are stateless persons or refugees permanently resident in the territory of a Member State, as also to the members of their families and their survivors.

Paragraph (2)

In addition, the provisions of this Regulation shall apply to the survivors of wage-earners or assimilated workers who were subject to the legislation of one or more Member States, irrespective of the nationality of these latter, where such survivors are nationals of a Member State, or stateless persons or refugees permanently resident in the territory of a Member State.
