Six men accused of gang-raping a 23-year-old woman in New Delhi are expected to be formally charged on January 2.
Five men are expected to be charged with rape, murder, and kidnapping and could face the death penalty.
Prosecutors have ordered a test to determine the age of the sixth suspect, who is believed to be under 18.
The victim was repeatedly raped by the men on a bus in the Indian capital on December 16. The men were armed with a metal bar and they repeatedly beat her and her companion.
The victim died on December 29 in a Singapore hospital.
Media reports say the driver tried to run her over after she was thrown out of his bus.
Her death prompted street protests in New Delhi and elsewhere over the widespread abuse of women in India.
