15 (XXXV). The situation of human rights in Equatorial Guinea[1]32

The Commission on Human Rights, Keeping in mind the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Recalling Economic and Social Council resolution 1235 (XLII) of 6 June 1967, authorizing the Commission to make a thorough study of situations which reveal a consistent pattern of violations of human rights,

1. Decides that a Special Rapporteur of the Commission, to be appointed by the Chairman of the Commission, be entrusted with the task of making a thorough study of the human rights situation in Equatorial Guinea, based on such information as be may deem relevant, and to report thereon to the thirty-sixth session of the Commission;

2. Requests the Secretary-General to render to the Special Rapporteur all the assistance which he may require in his work;

3. Recommends to the Economic and Social Council to make an appeal to the Government of Equatorial Guinea to extend its co-operation to the Commission in connexion with the implementation of this resolution;

4. Decides to consider the report of the Special Rapporteur at its thirty-sixth session.
