1) A representative of the Embassy of Singapore in Washington D.C. states that a female foreign national whose husband is a national of Singapore may obtain permanent residence status in Singapore if her husband sponsors her (Embassy of Singapore 24 May 1991). For that purpose, the representative holds that the national of Singapore is requested to apply to the Immigration Department in Singapore.
The same representative added that there may be some problems if, in the above-mentioned circumstances, the applicant plans to reside elsewhere while applying for permanent residence status in Singapore (Ibid.). Hence, the applicant must have the intention of residing permanently in Singapore.
2) The same representative states that previous employment in Singapore may help the above-mentioned applicant, a female, to obtain permanent residence status (Embassy of Singapore 24 May 1991).
The representative maintains that only the Immigration Department of Singapore may provide detailed information regarding every single application for permanent residence status.
