Citizenship issues for citizens of British Dependent Territories and Colonies are very complex and each case is dealt with separately. According to a spokesperson at the High Commission of Britain in Ottawa, along with detailed case-specific information it is then necessary to refer to the British Nationality Act & Rights of Abode (1948-1983), the British Immigration Act of 1971, and the British Nationality Act 1981 (High Commission of Britain 7 Aug. 1991).
