In a 2 July 1999 telephone interview with the Research Directorate, a custodian at Cine América in Quito stated that the cinema is located at América 648 and Asunción streets. This address is corroborated in the January 1997 edition of Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands: A Lonely Planet Guide (139). According to the custodian, who has worked at the cinema since 1992, América shows pornographic films and is frequented by gay men. The custodian stated that the cinema has been in operation for some time, but could not confirm for how long.
