Please find attached a 16 March 1994 factsheet prepared by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that describe its activities designed to aid internally displaced civilians in Sri Lanka as well as the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Médecins sans frontières (MSF), CARE, Save the Children Fund (SCF), OXFAM and Redd Barna. The presence of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the camps for internally displaced persons are also mentioned, such as the Sri Lankan Red Cross Society (SLRC). Several other are identified only by their acronyms, such as FORUT, IRDF and SEDEC. For more details, please consult the attachments. Also attached are reports describing programmes run by the government, which may be of interest.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
