According to a representative of the Embassy of Iran in Ottawa, the victim of a rape is not penalized by the judicial system (12 Nov. 1992). However, the burden of proof rests with the victim (Ibid.). The maximum penalty for a rapist found guilty is death (Ibid.).

Additional and/or corroborative information on this subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa.
