In addition to the information contained in responses to Information Requests KEN11840 and KEN11952, an article published in Globe and Mail of 20 January 1993 states that Kenyan government recently asked refugees, including 300,000 Somalis, "to go home." The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Kenyan officials are reportedly engaged in negotiations aimed at finding a solution to "the mounting security problems posed by armed bandits along the Kenyan-Somali border" (UNHCR Update on Refugee Developments in Africa 20 Jan. 1993).
