Malaysian police arrested at least 60 protesters over the weekend in order to disourage growing opposition activity in the Southeast Asian country.
Some have since been released, but authorities warned the opposition not to hold their planned demonstration set for July 9.
The opposition is using the rally to call for an end to the ruling party's 54-year rule and to demand greater political transparency.
Prime Minister Najib Razak today said if there are problems the opposition "will be held responsible," telling them "do not create chaos just because you want power."
