Numerous references to Mockbul Hossain and his affiliation with the Awami League (AL) were found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate (The Daily Star 15 Dec. 2002; ibid. 4 Jan. 2002; ibid. 1 Sept. 2002; ibid. 19 Oct. 2002; ibid. 23 Sept. 2003; New Age 25 July 2003; News Garden 19 Nov. 2001; Bangladeshi News 10 Dec. 2001; Bangladesh Nationalist Party 2001). Specifically, the majority of sources refer to Hossain as a former AL lawmaker (The Daily Star 19 Oct. 2002; ibid. 15 Dec. 2002; ibid. 23 Sept. 2003; News Garden 19 Nov. 2001), while two sources indicated that Hossain is a former AL Member of Parliament (Bangladeshi News 10 Dec. 2001; The Daily Star 4 Jan. 2002).
