Radio Shabelle
May 22, 2009, in Mogadishu, Somalia
Warsame, 24, was shot in crossfire between Transitional Federal Government forces and hard-line Islamic insurgents in the capital as he was walking to Radio Shabelle for his morning broadcast, local journalists told CPJ.
According to local journalists, the fighting was so intense that no one could attend to Warsame for more than half an hour. The reporter, described as a "workaholic" by colleagues, was survived by his wife of six months.
