The Colombian government says it has killed a top leader with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country's oldest and fiercest rebel group.
Colombia's attorney general, Guillermo Mendoza, said in a radio interview that the army killed Jorge Briceno Suarez, head of FARC's military operations, in an early morning battle.
The U.S. State Department had been offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Mendoza.
