Comments	The original Act received Royal Assent on 6 May 1961 and entered into force on 1 September 1963, save for sections 1-3, 5(1) and 9, Part III, Part VIII and section 120, which entered into force on the day of the Assent. This compilation was prepared on 1 July 2006 by the Office of Legislative Drafting and Publishing, Attorney-General's Department, Canberra. The text of any of those amendments not in force on that date is appended in the Notes section. The operation of amendments that have been incorporated may be affected by application provisions that are set out in the Notes section. Made under the Act, the Marriage Regulations 1963 entered into force on 1 September 1963.
