Speaking on condition of anonymity, the officials, said the strike on June 2 – the sixth in 11 days – took place not far from Wana, the main town in South Waziristan.

The strike is part of the United States' campaign to destroy Al-Qaeda and Taliban sanctuaries in Pakistani tribal regions.

The covert program is a cause of tension between Washington and Islamabad.
