This is a translation prepared by the Congressional-Executive Commission on China of the "People's Republic of China Regional Ethnic Autonomy Law", issued by the Second Session of the Sixth National People's Congress on 31 May 1984 (effective 1 October 1984) and amended in accordance with the "Decision on Revising the Peoples Republic of China Regional Ethnic Autonomy Law" made at the 12th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National Peoples Congress on 28 February 2001.
