Media reports say the former spokesman of Georgia's Interior Ministry, Guram Donadze, has been detained upon arrival from Turkey at Tbilisi airport.

Donadze, who left Georgia after last October's elections, is a suspect in the attempted cover-up of the 2004 murder of a 19-year-old man.

Buta Robakidze was shot dead by a police officer in Tbilisi in November 2004 after his car had been stopped for a check.

The police had claimed that Robakidze and his five companions were armed and the officer had acted in self-defense.

The police officer who shot Robakidze was later convicted of his murder.

Donadze is accused of ordering a police cameraman to record footage of a planted weapon at the site in order to support the murderer's claim.
